The doors were ready to open. The cheerleaders were ready to cheer. And Mayor Hubbard was ready to shop.
On Friday, October 23, Academy Sports + Outdoors celebrated its grand opening at Fairview Town Center and welcomed customers into its new Fairview store.
The morning included a ribbon-cutting, an appearance by the Princeton High School cheerleaders, and opportunities for customers to draw for gift cards and prizes. Mayor John Hubbard also made the store’s first purchase, helping kick off a new chapter for a familiar Fairview location.
A Ribbon Cutting and a Fairview Welcome
Before customers came in, the Academy team gathered to cut the ribbon and celebrate the opening. Mayor Hubbard and Super Dave Quinn joined the team.
The Princeton High School cheerleaders brought plenty of energy, cheering customers as they entered the store and joining the celebration.
There is something special about seeing a business open its doors for the first time. The preparation is complete, the team is ready, and the community gets its first chance to walk in and see what is new.
For Academy and Fairview, Friday was that moment.
A New Chapter for a Familiar Space
The new Academy Sports + Outdoors is located at 201 Stacy Road in Fairview Town Center, in space previously occupied by Macy’s.
For those who remember shopping at Macy’s, the opening offers a chance to see a familiar location serving the community in a new way. Academy gives neighbors and visitors another place to shop for sports, recreation, and outdoor activities.
The opening also adds to the mix of businesses that give people reasons to spend time at Fairview Town Center. A shopping trip can become lunch with a friend, an errand checked off the list, or a chance to explore another nearby business.
That is part of how a town center becomes more than a collection of storefronts. It becomes a place where the community gathers.
A Neighborly Welcome to Academy
Grand openings celebrate the store, but they also celebrate the people who make it part of the neighborhood.
Thank you to the Academy team for welcoming Fairview to the celebration. Thank you to Mayor Hubbard for joining the ribbon-cutting and making the first purchase, and to the Princeton High School cheerleaders for bringing their spirit to opening morning.
And thank you to everyone who came out to welcome Academy Sports + Outdoors to Fairview.
We are glad you are here.
