More than 3.5 million people in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex were employed in September 2016. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that is a 3.6 percent increase over the previous 12 months and is above the national increase of 1.7 percent over the same time period.
 
Half of the more than 607,000 people (16 years and older) working in Collin County work in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) related jobs. It is projected over the next 10 years there will be a growth rate of 2.8% per year in jobs requiring a bachelor’s degree. And, the fastest growing job sector will be  Health Care and Social Assistance with a 4.1% rate of growth year-over-year.
