    Fairview, Texas is Making Headlines

September was a busy, eventful, exciting month here in Fairview, Texas, where not one, but two big announcements put our community and our economic development efforts in the headlines.

Venture X Brings Modern Coworking Space to Fairview Town Center
The first of our economic development news to hit the headlines (Dallas Morning News, Bisnow, Franchising.com) last month was the announcement that Venture X, a membership-based workspace community, has chosen Fairview Town Center as its 10th location in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

Venture X, which Inc. has recognized as one of the best coworking spaces in the United States, anticipates being the third-largest company of its kind in the world by the end of 2022. Its small- to medium-size business members include entrepreneurs, established businesses and startups seeking modern, flexible workspace featuring boutique hotel-style hospitality.

Venture X Fairview Town Center will open in early 2020 with nearly 20,000 square feet of workspace options including shared spaces, private offices, virtual offices and high-tech meeting rooms. Amenities will include a spacious lounge area with a café that will accommodate as many as 100 guests, and a 1,200-square-foot outdoor covered patio for work or relaxation. The contemporary design will feature high, exposed ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a bright, open, industrial loft feel.

Besides the fact that Venture X marks the first dedicated office space in Fairview, we’re excited to offer cutting-edge space designed for the way many individuals and businesses are choosing to work today. As Venture X President Jason Anderson notes, “The evolution of shared workspaces is the future of the workforce in America. It creates a think-tank environment and provides networking opportunities.”

The Venture X and Fairview Town Center partnership is ideal for a number of reasons, and we’re pleased that Venture X franchisee Mark Buskuhl recognizes the value of our prime location for his clientele. You don’t have to be a Fortune 500 company to be welcome in Fairview; our friendly community is a great place for businesses of all sizes.

Venture X will provide a much-needed resource for Fairview residents who manage their businesses from their homes but would benefit from a nearby professional setting to conduct business. In addition, the Town Center’s apartment residents who work from home will have the luxury and convenience of setting up shop within walking distance. Venture X members whose clients and colleagues visit from out of town will find the Town Center’s hotels an easy stroll from their meeting destination.

This premium workspace will also attract entrepreneurs and businesses from multiple surrounding communities, which translates to increased activity for Fairview Town Center’s retailers, restaurants, service businesses and hotels.

Billingsley Company Announces Major Mixed-Use Development
The next big Fairview announcement to make the news (Dallas Morning News, Bisnow) in recent weeks is the major mixed-use project that Billingsley Co. has planned for the southeast corner of two major Collin County highways, North Central Expressway and State Highway 121. The tract is just north of Fairview Town Center and south of Collin College and Medical City McKinney.

This 242-acre development, a partnership between Billingsley and the Petefish family, epitomizes Fairview’s tagline, “Where Community Meets Opportunity,” fulfilling the vision that was put in place by city leaders two decades ago. For years this property has been zoned for such commercial uses as office, multifamily and retail — exactly what is needed to provide the tax base that helps fund the infrastructure for the entire town and helps keep the tax rate at a reasonable level for residents who chose to live in Fairview for its home sites of an acre or more.

We anticipate the Billingsley-Petefish development could bring an annual economic impact of as much as $1 billion while providing jobs for local residents and a short commute that helps give them back their personal and family time. This is an ideal location for corporate office tenants seeking the type of skilled workforce that is found in abundance within a short drive. An office center located here will reduce the traffic commuting south of Fairview, and the opportunity for residents to live near where they work will take even more cars off the freeway. Companies located here will be able to leverage the nearby McKinney National Airport as an additional transportation asset.

We are fortunate to have the highly respected Billingsley Co. as the development partner whose expertise will create a crown jewel in our small section of the U.S. 75 corridor. Billingsley is known for well-designed projects such as Cypress Waters and Austin Ranch, which enhance and complement the communities where they are built. Green space and park areas will be an integral part of this multiphase development.

While there’s still a great deal of planning to be done, the city will have the opportunity to contribute input on everything from timing to quality. We’re thrilled with the chance to attract companies who believe that community counts, and who appreciate knowing their neighbors. Fairview does not have the population of its neighbors, but we have the benefit of sharing a massive skilled workforce and offering companies a unique community feel.

Fairview: No Longer Collin County’s Best-Kept Secret
All of this news has placed our community in North Texas’ economic development spotlight. It’s a wonderful place to be, as we embrace the positive changes that will help us maintain and enhance the quality of life Fairview has cherished.

Fairview is all about quality over quantity. With only 450 acres remaining for commercial development, we intend to do it right. If you are looking for a business location that offers a prime location, access to an impressive workforce, outstanding schools, fantastic nearby amenities and a friendly community, let’s talk!
